New Yacht by Mercedes Benz

Mercedes-Benz cars are luxurious and well-respected, and perhaps that’s why U.K. boat builder Silver Arrows Marine turned to Benz designers for a helping hand in creating a glitzy new yacht.
Dubbed the Silver Arrow of the seas, the yacht measures about 46 feet long and represents Mercedes’ vision, as designers used their expertise in automotive design to create the luxurious watercraft. “Giving shape to a boat was an exciting challenge for automotive designers like we are,” said Gorden Wagener, Head of Design Mercedes-Benz Cars, at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show. In addition to creating the shape, designers also conceptualized the boat’s layout, interior appointments, and color combinations. Silver Arrows Marine, on the other hand, is responsible for the boat’s technical equipment and construction.
This isn’t the first time a boat company has knocked on Mercedes’ door. AMG designers partnered with boat maker Cigarette Racing on a speedboat on two occasions, first creating a 46-foot long boat inspired by the SLS AMG gullwing, and another model inspired by the C63 AMG Black Series that stretched a full 50 feet. The German automaker also helped design the Eurocopter EC145.
The Silver Arrow of the sea is scheduled to hit the market in 2013.
